Royal Electric, Pawtucket, RI made all kinds of electrical items, from fuses to Christmas lights and everything in between.
The company was founded Joseph and Mayer Riesman in 1921 in Chelsea MA. Brothers, born in Russia, Joseph 4 on January 15th, 1897 and Mayer 5 on April 22, 1898. The company started with 5 employees and in the late 1960's had grown to over 1000 employees. 1
In 1955 the factory that produced Royals Christmas lighting products was destroyed by a devastating fire. Residents of Pawtucket, Rhode Island where the factory was located, reported pieces and parts of Christmas lighting products washed up on the shore of the Blackstone River for month. 2
In the late 1950's, Royal became affiliated with International Telephone & Telegraph Corporation. 1
In 1991, Royal was acquired by Triangle Wire and Cable, West Nyack, N.Y. 3.
