The Entwistle Company, still in business today, was founded in 1918 by James L. Entwistle, who was an electrical engineer and professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Professor Entwistle founded the Company in Rhode Island for the purpose of manufacturing specialized machinery for producing insulated electrical wire, which was an important emerging technology at the time. Over the ensuing years, Entwistle acquired other capital machinery product lines and pursued defense-related work and acquisitions, which has resulted in a diverse product mix. The Company's operations were moved to Hudson, Massachusetts in 1970. 1

Mr Entwistle was born April 18th, 1899 in Central Falls Rhode Island. 2 His parents were Albert E Entwistle and Rhoda A Entwistle. 3

Entwistle graduated from MIT in 1921 4 and became an Assistant Professor in 1929. 5

Entwistle married Miss Irene Bowen Jollie on July 12th, 1921 6 They had a son James L Entwistle Jr. 7

Mr Entwistle died, April 12th, 1988 in Washington Maine. 2
