Dr Franklin Snow Huddy was born on July 29, 1905 in Provicence, RI. His parents were George Henry Huddy Jr. and Frances Newell Snow Huddy. ¹.

At the age of ten, he had a license to transmit and was operating his own station. His transmitter was the first one in the state, and probably in New England, to communicate directly with Europe ².

Dr Huddy was a Doctor of Optometry having graduated from the Massachusetts School of Optometry. He also was in the class 1928 ⁵. at Brown University ³.

He was a research engineer for the General Electric Company, the Assistant Engineer with the CeCo manufactueinr company. He was also head of the science department at Nathan Bishop Junior High 3.

Huddy was also a long timeshort wave radio fan, owning station WIBZI,one of the most powerful amateur radio stationsin the world,located in Chepachet, Rhose Island 3.

In March of 1925, Huddy sends a message of congratulations from Rhode island Govenor Pothier to President Coolidge per Amatuer Radio Relay

In January of 1928, Huddy will act as chairman of the technical committee of the Associated Radio Amateurs of Southern New England

In 1937, Huddy is mistakenly arrested for drunk driving and it is found he has nervous condition. This may be the reason for him shooting his wife in 1951.

In 1951, Dr. Huddy spent three months at a private hospital in Providence suffering from a nervous ailment, after which he was granted a trial home visit. That visit ended in tragedy. On a sad note Huddy shot and killed his wife on November 29, 1951 in North Adams, MA, Huddy recovered and was indicted for murder, receiving a 15-year sentence followed by 20 years of probation ⁶.
