Charles N Kraus was born January 5, 19071 to Charles A (Chemist) and Federika F Kraus2. In 1920, Charles's father has remarried to Elizabeth and had a step brother Philip and a step brother Douglas3. In 1940, Charles is listed at owning a Electircal Store4

In 1926 we see that Charles is a boy scout and well on his way to a life in radio by the merit badges he is getting.

In 1927, Kraus is a recruit with the Forty-Third Signal Company of the Rhode Island National Guard. He obtains some outstanding distance records with the guards station D08. He carried on consitant comunication with The Presidio in San Francisco.

In January of 1928 Kraus discovers a way to use old regenerative sets using a shielded grid tube to make a very powerful and selective receiver

1928 finds Kraus picking up signals from the Italian military airship, Italia.

Kraus radioed Artic Explorer, McMillan and informed him of the plight of the air ship Italia. Havng crashed in 1928.

In 1929, the Providence Journal has an article on Kraus and his comgined hobby of Radio and Stamp collection. He has accumulated more than 4000 stamps from the countries he has contacted with his radio set.

In 1932 Kraus loses his license for not confining is broadcasts to the wavelengths alloted. He denies the charges. At this time he is working with the East Providence Police department as part of their radio communication program.

In 1934 Kraus runs afoul of Weston Electric Instrument Corp.

1936 brings bad news, Kraus his stamp collection stolen from his radio club. Theae are most likely the stamps Kraus collected of the many countries he contacted on the radio.
